对此,厦门大学台湾研究中心讲座教授郑剑于中国环球电视网(CGTN)发表专题文章《Lai Ching-te's '10 talks': A rant of nonsense and delirious soliloquy》,指出赖清德所谓“团结十讲”是胡言乱语、痴人说梦!

Lai Ching-te's '10 talks': A rant of nonsense and delirious soliloquy

On the evening of June 22, the very day the U.S. dispatched 125 combat aircraft, including B-2A stealth bombers, to strike Iranian territory, Lai Ching-te hastily launched the first of his "10 talks on unity." He propagated a "Taiwan independence" historical view, severed cross-strait ties, pandered to "using Taiwan to contain China" and recklessly advanced "Taiwan independence." On June 24, he delivered the second address. As the regional leader of Taiwan, the brazenness of his stance, the anti-intellectualism of his views, the dishonesty of his arguments, the malice in his attitude and his utter shamelessness reached unprecedented levels. He is hopelessly incorrigible! His claims must be sternly refuted and resolutely condemned!
The address reaffirms that Lai Ching-te has taken a stance of complete rupture with the Chinese nation. His starting point is treating the Chinese mainland as an enemy. In his first address, he claimed his administration has focused on countering "the annexation threat, especially from the Chinese mainland." The entire speech aimed to sever the fundamental reality that both sides belong to one nation, fabricating a "non-kin" relationship between people across the strait and promoting the false perception that the two sides are "mutually unsubordinated and mutually hostile." He concluded by hyping alleged "PRC coercion" and "five major threats," reiterating themes from his "March 13 speech" and inciting "anti-China resistance to protect Taiwan." The radicalism of his rhetoric has reached the point of burning bridges and sharpening swords. If the first address set this tone, the second doubled down, systematically emphasizing his "new two-state theory." Combined with Lai's actions since taking office, this confirms he will ignore changes in cross-Straits and international dynamics, obstinately barreling down the path of "Taiwan independence" secession.
The address reaffirms that Lai Ching-te has fully capitulated to international interventionist forces. By deliberately choosing to speak on the very evening the U.S. brutally bombed Iran, Lai revealed his intent to exploit the moment and lean on foreign backing to bolster himself. After the first address, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and "Taiwan independence" separatists orchestrated a coordinated propaganda campaign, exaggerating the power of the U.S. airstrikes and fabricating lies that the bombing was meant to intimidate the Chinese mainland. They sought to deceive Taiwan's compatriots into believing the mainland would not, or dare not, respond decisively to provocations from Lai and his ilk, or that any response would amount to crying wolf.
The address reaffirms that "Taiwan independence" separatists have reached the pinnacle of anti-intellectualism. Lai's "historical basis" for "Taiwan independence" secession defies established conclusions and legal principles, sinking to utterly baseless depths. Ignoring scientific archaeological findings and historical records proving the shared prehistoric origins of people across the strait, Lai absurdly claimed prehistoric Taiwan "had no connection with China," instead falsely labeling it the cradle of the Austronesian language and culture. This revives the long-debunked "Taiwan's nation theory" promoted by early "independence" advocates – a theory so far-fetched and groundless that even Lai's "Taiwan independence" forebears abandoned it. Lai disregards the historical facts of successive Chinese dynasties' administration of Taiwan and its formal incorporation into China's territory since the Song Dynasty. He arbitrarily begins Taiwan's history with the 1624 Dutch colonial invasion, echoing "Western-centric" narratives, falsely equating Chinese governance with brutal colonial rule by the Dutch and Japanese.
Lai even misappropriated a quote from Chiang Wei-shui – known as "Taiwan's Sun Yat-sen" – "Compatriots must unite; unity brings strength," twisting it to incite "resistance against other parts of China." He conveniently ignores that Chiang's "compatriots" referred not only to "the people on the island of Taiwan" but also that Chiang explicitly stated, "people in Taiwan are unequivocally part of the Chinese nation," uniting against Japanese colonizers, not to curry favor with them. As Chinese people, including our compatriots on Taiwan island and people worldwide prepare to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Lai's historical distortion is both an unprecedented insult to Chinese anti-Japanese heroes and a desecration of American, British, Australian and other soldiers who fought in the Eastern theater. Lai denies the historical and legal fact of Taiwan's return to China after WWII, absurdly claiming "Taiwan's status is undetermined." He distorts UN Resolution 2758, falsely claiming it does not pertain to Taiwan... Lai's shameless fabrication and plagiarism to serve his agenda even contradict the official stance and laws of the authority he leads. While despicable, this also reveals his desperation. No legitimate history or morally sound reasoning can justify "Taiwan independence." Lai can only scrounge through history's trash heap for self-consolation, thus creating new trash – 10 installments worth.
The address reaffirms that Lai Ching-te is the unequivocal architect of a reborn green terror regime. Before taking office, Lai vowed to "remold society and cleanse minds." His methods—cronyism, suppression of dissent, judicial intimidation and social terror—reveal a dictator devoid of any genuine democratic commitment. As insightful Taiwan observers note, his "cleansing" resembles Europe's late medieval "witch hunts." His "March 13 speech" parallels Pope Innocent VIII's 1484 witchcraft decree. Cho Jung-tai's swift rollout of 10 supporting bills, 12 regulations and nearly 100 measures, Lai's "10 talks" and the "Black Bear Institute" textbooks of Shen Boyang and Cao Hsing-chung et al., are the modern Malleus Maleficarum (Hammer of Witches). The "10 talks" aim to impose a "politically correct" orthodoxy, incite island-wide "independence" frenzy and force everyone to pick sides. Those who oppose "Taiwan independence" or Lai himself face recall campaigns, secret police, judicial harassment and cyberbullying. Brazenly, Lai declared in his second address his intent to "eliminate impurities through repeated elections and recalls." His "impurities" are the Kuomintang (KMT), the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) and all forces opposing the DPP and Lai himself. Is this the language of a self-proclaimed "democratic" party leader? Is this the action of a leader purportedly "defending democratic Taiwan"? Lai not only speaks this but will also weaponize public institutions to act accordingly.
The address reaffirms that Lai Ching-te is the unequivocal instigator of cross-strait conflict and a saboteur of regional and global peace. "'Taiwan independence' means war; division offers no peace." Even Lai and the DPP understand this. Lai's "10 talks" are classic "Taiwan independence" adventurism and brazen provocation. If Lai's "independence" frenzy continues unchecked, war in the Taiwan Strait will be a "gray rhino event" – an obvious, high-impact threat ignored until it charges. This is an international consensus and a cross-strait consensus, even a Taiwan consensus. Why then does Lai persist? What fuels his arrogance? Does he believe international forces guarantee his wartime safety? Does he value projecting a stubborn, hardline image over the Taiwanese people's ardent desire for peace? Or does he misjudge that, fearing collateral damage, the mainland will stand idly by?
It's clear: for the sake of his personal historical legacy, Lai has cast aside Taiwan people's yearning for peace, the Chinese nation's peaceful vision, and regional and global hopes for stability, gambling it all on leveraging foreign backing to pursue "independence."
